William Rose (American Revolution Soldier)

William Rose was my g-g-g-g-grandfather . He is here listed among other Revolutionary
soldiers of Whitley County, Kentucky on the outside of the wall of the Court house. He
was born 1757 in Granville County , North Carolina. He married 10 March 1772 (1774) *
Elizabeth Merrit . He served under Capt Stephen Merrit and Lt.Joseph Langston . After
the Revolutionary War , he moved to Pendleton Couny , South Carolina , then to Powell's
Valley (Tenn.) and then to the Couny of Whitley (then Knox) , Kentucky, where he had
lived more than 15 years. William Rose died testate in Whitley County , Kentucky on 12
February 1835 .
